What is LPG?

Liquefied Petroleum Gas is an odourless hydrocarbon fuel which is lighter than petroleum. This fuel can be either produced from the refineries or can be extracted from refining crude-oil.

LP gas is stored in tanks of high pressure and is transported in liquid form in special bottles or tanks that bear the same high pressures. It can be stored in pressurised bottles. The main benefits of LPG:

  • High calorific value
  • Ecological fuel with negligible emission of sulphur or metal
  • Non-toxic
  • Extremely high combustion efficiency
  • Can be odorised in order to be recognised.

Overall, LPG is an efficient, ecological and cheap fuel, suitable for heating, cooking or auto-transport.

Propane Propane which is constituted by hydrocarbons is made up from mainly three carbon-alkanes (C3H8).

Butane which is constituted by hydrocarbons is comprised from four coals of individual n- and of iso butane (C4H10).
